Cheltenham’s high street is set to get a makeover with the opening of Urban Outfitters’ new 8,000 square foot store in the Brewery Quarter this coming November.
The hipster American store which sells brands such as Levi’s, Calvin Klein and Vivienne Westwood, already has 29 other locations in the UK, making Cheltenham its 30th. As it stands, the closest Urban Outfitters stores to Cheltenham are either Birmingham, Cardiff or Cabot Circus in Bristol, but with the new store opening later this year, it will be the first location of the chain to open in the Gloucestershire area.
The Brewery Quarter underwent an ambitious £30 million expansion with the hopes of attracting more retailers and shoppers to the area and with Urban Outfitters opening in November 2018 and John Lewis set to open the doors of its new 115,000 square foot shopping centre down the street this coming October, it is likely the high street will see more retailers chomping at the bit to make their mark on the city.
Urban Outfitters was founded as the retail store Free People in 1970 before being renamed to Urban Outfitters in 1976. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the brand targets young adults, both men and women, with merchandise ranging from fashion apparel, footwear, beauty and accessories, activewear, housewares and music, including vinyl records.
