It’s been less than 24 hours since Love Island crushed our souls and finished for the summer, and for those ‘loyal’ Love Islanders who watched six days a week for eight weeks straight, it can come as a bit of a shock now that it’s over. So, here are some of the best programmes out there that can fill your time until you forget that Love Island is over or until the new season starts next summer.
This American crime drama is set in New York City and based around an unrelenting drug kingpin who lives a double life desperately trying to keep his drug identity under wraps. But, when he tries to get out of the drug world, trouble hits and things begin to unravel.
This upcoming dark-comedy is centred around two people (played by Jonah Hill and Emma Stone) who are in the late stages of trying out a new pharmaceutical trial for a radical new treatment said to repair anything about the mind. Jonah Hill’s character, struggling from schizophrenia, and Emma Stone’s who fixates on broken relationships, join others at a facility where they are assured their problems will be solved permanently with no complications from the treatment. Airing September 21st.
The hugely popular female prison series is back for another season of drama. Set in a minimum-security female prison, the show follows the life of Piper Kerman and the struggles she is faced with trying to survive in prison.
This controversial Netflix series hasn’t even been released yet and it’s already causing quite the stir. Based around a teenager who is overweight, Patty seeks revenge on those who bullied her after undergoing a huge transformation from having her mouth wired shut. The series is experiencing serious uproar over promoting ‘fat-shaming’, however the show’s creator has defended it saying it highlights her own past experiences, but in a comedic way. Airing August 10th.
Unsolved is an American true crime story which follows the investigations into two of the rap world’s most controversial murders in the ’90s, Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
